A building like our Cathedral, built in the Byzantine style and having intricate stonework and domes with copper plating, requires skilled craftsmen to make repairs. Initial bids on our repairs, that have varied by thousands of dollars in price, revealed that these craftsman are very difficult to find. One will work on the copper flashing, but another specializes in the stonework, for example, and quite often, their opinions on the cause of the leaks were not satisfactory. Research is being done to determine the most cost effective and long term solution to our problems. It is certainly taking longer to address this issue than was anticipated but the Board hopes to find a permanent solution rather than a short term “fix”.
We are pleased that the parish home roof was completed this fall.
